Pour-Over Instructions

Pour-over devices allow the user to control every aspect of the brewing process. Whether you’re using the classic Chemex, Kalita Wave or Hario V60, use this guide as a starting place to brew great coffee at home.

You’ll need:

  • Pour-over brewer
  • Matching filters
  • Gram scale
  • Timer
  • Spoon or stir stick
  • Grinder
  • Gooseneck kettle
  • Filtered water
  • Fresh roasted coffee
  1. Generously rinse the filter to remove any paper taste, then discard the rinse water.
  2. Grind the coffee medium-fine, similar to the consistency of black pepper. Add it to the brewer and tare the scale.
  3. Start the timer and pour just enough water (50-100 grams) to bloom the coffee. Stir gently to ensure even saturation.
  1. Discard the filter and coffee grounds when the water has drained through. Swirl the coffee, pour and enjoy.
